todream

todream is a command-line interface random text generation program written in Python. It takes a specification file, an optional "morph" file, and generates text according to the patterns specified and any rules in the morph file.

The program was built to accommodate the niche that was left by the (now defunct) tool awkwords, and borrows some syntax from another online text generator which is, unfortunately in the creator's opinion, heavily infested with "AI slop".

The primary intentions of the program are to:

• generate words for constructed languages ("conlangs")
• generate names for TTRPGs and other media

Other uses have not been explicitly designed for, and as such, the program contains only a subset of some features from these other programs.

Python (and its standard library) are required to run the program. More details (including the specifics of the specification formats) are in the README file.

todream is released under the MIT license, so you can probably integrate the code into your own projects!
